After 26 years of service to Black women, girls, gender-expensive people and the Reproductive Justice…
In Our Own Voice Debuts Traveling Black RJ “Herstory” Exhibit at Power Rising 2024
It’s our 10th anniversary and we’ll celebrate all year by continuing to amplify and uplift Black women at the national, regional and state levels. This is an important year and we are all about building a movement and showing the power of our voice. So, what better way to kick it off then with a debut of our traveling Black RJ “Herstory” exhibit at #PowerRising2024 – a space for Black women to learn from one another and turn our power into actionable items to better our community. We believe that events like this play an important role in fostering civic engagement and our raising awareness of our long history of Black women leadership. Thank you to everyone who stopped by. We’re taking the exhibit on the road all year as we celebrate our anniversary and uplift our history. To find out where we’ll be next, follow us at @BlackRJ on Instagram or Twitter.
To say that we’ve been impacted by this event is an understatement. We saw and heard from Black RJ champions and elected officials such as Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-12), Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker, Congresswoman Yvette Clarke (NY- 09), Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12), Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton (IL), Pennsylvania House Speaker Joanna McClinton, and the trailblazing Senator Carol Moseley Braun, the first African American woman elected to the U.S. Senate and the former Ambassador to New Zealand. We were also surrounded by some of the most powerful Black leaders of our time who are also caring, supportive, and excited to share their experiences and what they’ve learned on their journeys.
Our President & CEO, Regina Davis Moss even spoke on Power Rising’s “Healthcare Shakedown” panel, where she, Shavon Arline-Bradley, Kersha Deibel, and Jordyn White talked about #ReproductiveJustice, healthcare access, why it’s important to Black women, and how Black women can continue advocating for their health.
We’ve said time and time again that this year is going to be huge for RJ, which is a daunting fact to face. But seeing that there are so many people out there who have our back and are there for the #reprojustice movement reminds us so many of us have the same goal: to better ourselves, our families, our communities, and our futures.
We truly are stronger together. Period. 💪🏿
