Statement of In Our Own Voice Executive Director and Founder Marcella Howell
WASHINGTON -Today, Trump issued an executive order that undercuts the Affordable Care Act. Marcela Howell, founder and executive director of In Our Own Voice: National Black Women’s Reproductive Justice Agenda, issued the following statement:

“Today’s executive order is Trump’s latest attempt to dismantle President Obama’s legacy. By weakening the Affordable Care Act, the administration will make it harder for millions of people to get health insurance coverage, disproportionately impacting women of color who already face barriers to accessing health care.

“Under this executive order, Black women’s health, rights and economic security will be at greater risk-all because Trump is hell-bent on destroying the signature legislation of our first Black president. In Our Own Voice calls on Congress to strengthen the Affordable Care Act and preserve access to health care for all people, of all races, genders and experiences.”
