Equipping the Next Generation of Reproductive Justice Leaders

The Next Generation Leadership Institute is looking for the next wave of HBCU leaders to champion the fight for Reproductive Justice and bodily autonomy. This two-year, paid fellowship will help you build essential skills to create lasting change on your campus and beyond.

The information session, “Application Rundown,” scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026, via Zoom.

This session will be an open, student-facing opportunity for HBCU students nationwide. Current fellows will share insights, walk participants through the application process, address common questions, and offer guidance to support strong submissions.

Who Should Apply

  • Current HBCU undergraduate students
  • Students committed to advancing Reproductive Justice, bodily autonomy, and community care
  • Students interested in leadership, advocacy, organizing, policy, and campus programming

What you Need to Apply

Before beginning your application for the Next Generation Leadership Institute Fellowship, please review the required materials below. These components help us learn more about your leadership journey, academic experiences, and commitment to advancing reproductive justice and social change. We encourage you to take time to thoughtfully prepare each element of your application.

1. One Letter of Recommendation

Your letter of recommendation should come from one of the following individuals who can speak to your leadership, character, and potential:

  • Faculty Advisor
  • Professor
  • School Counselor
  • Supervisor
  • Extracurricular Activity Coordinator

2. Most Recent Unofficial Transcript

Please upload a copy of your most recent unofficial transcript from your current academic institution.

3. Letter of Interest (350–600 words)

In your letter, please explain why you are interested in the Next Generation Leadership Institute Fellowship.

4. Four Short Essay Questions

Applicants will also be asked to respond to four brief essay prompts designed to help us better understand your leadership perspective, values, and commitment to Reproductive Justice.
