As we usher in the new year, the Programs and Training Department at In Our Own Voice: National Black Women’s Reproductive Justice Agenda is thrilled to celebrate the transformative work of the Next Generation Leadership Institute. What a year 2024 has been! Through dedication, innovation, and commitment, we’ve expanded the reach and impact of our program, making it a historic year full of unprecedented milestones.

In this year’s Annual Report, we proudly share the astounding successes of our fellows. Their passion for advancing Reproductive Justice at Historically Black Colleges and Universities is a testament to young people’s power and influence in creating tangible change.

This year, the Institute’s recruitment cycle shattered records, receiving the highest number of applications in its history! What’s more, we saw a 30% increase in the number of campuses we reached, broadening our scope of influence from across the nation and adding more diverse voices and perspectives to our fellowship program.

2024 also marked a significant shift in how we engage and support our fellows. The incoming class of 2024-2026 fellows represents a deeply inclusive group of talented individuals who are already making waves in their communities. Our recruitment strategies, blending traditional methods and fresh, innovative tactics—such as dynamic social media campaigns and impactful campus outreach—allowed us to connect with more students than ever.

We couldn’t be more proud of what our fellows accomplished this year. From robust efforts in boosting voter engagement through our HBCU Voters United Campaign to groundbreaking campus-based initiatives, they’ve demonstrated just how interconnected Reproductive Justice is with broader social justice movements.

As we look ahead to 2025, we are confident that the Next Generation Leadership Institute will continue to cultivate the powerful Reproductive Justice advocates of tomorrow.
